President of the Republic of Somaliland Holds Key Meeting with

His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), President of the Republic of Somaliland, today welcomed a high-level delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) at the Presidential Palace. The delegation, led by Mr. Manuel Marques Pereira, included Ms. Murima (Deputy Head), Ayan Hassan Rabi (Head of IOM), and Mohamed Omar Iidan (Security Officer).
President Irro expressed his appreciation for IOM’s long standing partnership and contributions to Somaliland’s development. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with international organizations to address key national priorities.
Mr. Marques Pereira congratulated the President on his electoral victory and praised Somaliland’s democratic achievements. He also reiterated IOM’s readiness to collaborate with the new administration, particularly with key government ministries, including Foreign Affairs, Interior, Resettlement, Justice, Health, and the Immigration Department.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation to address critical migration and humanitarian challenges.
Key Areas of Collaboration:
1. Strengthening migration management and protecting vulnerable communities.
2. Coordinating support for displaced persons and communities affected by natural disasters and conflicts.
3. Combating human trafficking and ensuring the safety and protection of at-risk individuals.
4. Leveraging the expertise and contributions of the Somaliland diaspora.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to fostering long-term collaboration aimed at promoting stability, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable development in Somaliland.
