President of the Republic of Somaliland Holds Key Meeting with

Hargeisa, Somaliland – President Muse Bihi Abdi of the Republic of Somaliland held a poignant meeting yesterday with Dr. Abdiqadir Adan Sheikh Mohamud (Jengali), commemorating the enduring contributions of his late brother, Dr. Mohamed Adan Sheikh Mohamud, to the health and well-being of Somaliland’s children. Dr. Mohamed Adan Sheikh Mohamud, a revered figure in the community, was the inspiration behind the establishment of the Mohamed Adan Sheikh Children’s Hospital (MAS) in Hargeisa, which has been a cornerstone of pediatric healthcare in the region since January 28, 2013.
During the meeting, discussions spanned the remarkable life and legacy of Dr. Mohamed Adan Sheikh, who was not only Somaliland’s first trained physician but also a survivor of political persecution under the regime of Siad Barre. Despite significant challenges, he remained committed to the betterment of health and education sectors in Somaliland, eventually leading to the foundation of MAS Hospital as a beacon of hope and care for children.
The meeting also included warm familial exchanges with Dr. Abdiqadir Adan Sheikh’s son and nephew, Minister Saleeban Ali Koore, emphasizing the deep personal connections and shared visions for Somaliland’s future.
The assembly was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including the Minister of Interior, Mr. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed, and the Chairman of the Kulmiye Party, Saleeban Yusuf Ali Koore, amongst others. Each participant echoed the sentiment of Dr. Mohamed’s dedication to his people and his country, celebrating his life’s work as a legacy that continues to inspire and heal.
The President expressed his gratitude towards the Sheikh family for their significant contributions and reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing healthcare services in honor of Dr. Mohamed’s vision.
